MITERED SQUARE PROJECT (AFGHAN)

Learn to knit a mitered square and use up scraps of sock yarn at the same time. Learn to join the squares together as you go. If you don’t want to commit to an afghan, this technique can be applied to many other projects: a table runner, pillow or placemats are just a few of the many possibilities.

This workshop will be two sessions, three weeks apart. Bring fingering or sock weight yarn to class. You will need approximately 10 yards for each small square, please bring at least 30 yards to make 3 square. You will knit at least two squares and start on the third in the first session of class.

The socks are started at the toe, with a foundation of 4 separate triangles, each subsequent level is built upon the last. Each and every triangle has been numbered in the pattern—just knit them in chronological order, and before you know it, you’ll have socks! Pictured in Koigu Premium Painted Merino.
Prerequisite
: This is definitely not a beginner class. Students must know how to knit on double pointed needles, cast on, knit, purl, bind off. Cost: $50

DIAMOND PATCH MITTENS
Just like the Diamond Patch Socks, these mittens are knitted with any variegated sock yarn. Just like the socks they match, these mittens may look complicated, but don’t be fooled: they are very easy to knit. Starting with a foundation row of 4 separate mitered triangles, each subsequent level is built upon the last. Each and every triangle has been numbered in the pattern—just knit them in chronological order, and before you know it, you’ll have mittens!
